EMERGENCY SLEEPING PODS – SALERIE CORNER

Dear Mooring Holder

EMERGENCY SLEEPING PODS – SALERIE CORNER

Guernsey Ports is supporting an initiative led by Caritas to site two emergency sleeping pods on the harbour estate. Caritas is a charity working to eliminate homelessness and social exclusion, and through this initiative the trust is looking to provide an immediate response to the growing need for emergency sleeping accommodation on the island. The pods provide pre-booked short-term accommodation for individuals whilst help is sought for them to access longer term accommodation and essential services. The pods are designed to be discreet and have minimal impact.

A Planning Application has been submitted by Caritas for the sleeping pods to be installed in a back-to-back configuration, towards the eastern end of the westernmost folly on the Salerie side of the QEII Marina, as indicated on the aerial photograph overleaf.

Based on feedback since the installation of identical sleeping pods at the Vale Douzaine Room, and on the understanding that the pods are monitored and cleaned regularly, we do not anticipate any issues with their location although this will remain under review.

I hope you will join me in supporting this worthwhile and important cause but if you do have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact lisa.duggan@ports.gg.
